Welcome to Growing the Reproductive Justice Movement: A Toolkit for Funders. This toolkit was created by the Women of Color Working Group of Funders for Reproductive Equity (FRE) as a resource to funders interested in learning more about supporting reproductive justice and Women of Color-led organizations.

A major feature of the toolkit is a four-part video series that highlights excerpts from interviews with FRE members who share their experiences and insights from funding this work. The toolkit also contains a companion document to the video series, Growing the Reproductive Justice Movement: A Toolkit for Funders, which can be found in the “RJ Toolkit Materials” Section. Written by Vanessa Daniel, Executive Director, Groundswell Fund and a member of the Working Group, the document answers questions funders often ask about reproductive justice and provides case studies of victories of some of the organizations using the reproductive justice framework.

The toolkit also provides information on ways to fund reproductive justice and Women of Color-led organizations. The section, “Ways to Fund RJ,” includes a slide show and brochure on the Catalyst Fund, a collaborative fund created by the Working Group to increase resources for reproductive justice and Women of Color-led organizations and a list of other intermediary organizations committed to funding this work.

Since the real experts on reproductive justice are the organizations working on the ground, we have included the “More Resources” Section, which contains an annotated listing of publications and other resources funders have found to be very useful as they develop their funding programs. Whether you are from a large or small foundation or are an individual donor, we think you will find the toolkit an invaluable resource.

The last Section of the toolkit, “Contact Us”, is a place where you can ask for additional information, get connected to other funders, learn more about the Funders Network, or give us feedback. We would love to hear from you.

Special thanks to the funders who supported the toolkit, toolkit project director and senior advisor, Adisa Douglas (now retired), and our consultant, Elsa A. Ríos, Strategies for Social Change. We also would like to thank Vanessa Daniel for her contributions to the documents in this toolkit.
